The Blue Fiddles: Feel Good Music From The Soul

Here's some tunes to help you get through the rest of the week.

Welcome to Dog Whistle Branding, the official newsletter of The Misfits, brought to you by m "IRON" Mike Steadman, Chief Misfit at The MisFits, and Drew O’Brien, Founder & Creative Director at We Make Cool Shit.

Dear Friend, Subscriber, and Aspiring Dog Whistle Brand Owner,

I want to introduce you to my Naval Academy classmate and fellow Marine, Victor A. Szeligowski, and his band, "The Blue Fiddles."

Victor describes himself as a MisFit; although he’s a suit-and-tie 9-5er who shakes big hands and does big things, deep down, he’s a dive-bar hero and artist in his soul.

He likes to make music to help the little man (or woman) feel better about their life. Victor is one of our clients. We’re helping him gain clarity on his vision for The Blue Fiddles and his entrepreneurial journey in general. As a classmate and Marine, I’m keeping this project close to my chest. He’s not just a client; he’s my friend.

One of our core values is that business relationships don’t have to be purely transactional.

I love seeing friends and other familiar faces on my calendar that we can help. One thing that makes us different from most branding and design studios is that we Co-Kreate with our clients. Here are some notes on our tentative eight-step process below:

Think Big, Start Small

  1. The MisFits MBA (w/ Coach) + Client Onboarding

  2. Brand Probe (Client Responsibility)

    1. Identity SMEs within MisFits Network

    2. Conduct Market Research (Books, Podcasts, Etc)

    3. Prepare Notes for Category Sprint

  3. Category Sprint ( w/  Coach)

  4. Landing Page Sprint (w / Coach)

  5. Design Process Begins (Website, Brand Identity, Logos, etc)

  6. Marketing Plan (w/ Coach) + Marketing Experiments

    1. Set up a landing page

  7. Design Review + Edits

  8. Launch

    1. Purchase Design Subscription or Business Coaching

We’re still working through the kinks, but this lets us sit in the passenger seat with our clients and help them take their brands from zero to one.

It feels good to be able to leverage my business coaching, brand building, and category design experience into a business model that works for us. Victor and I start the Category Sprint process this week, and then Drew and I will begin the design process.

In the meantime, I would love for you to support Victor and The Blue Fiddles by subscribing to his newsletter here: https://sendfox.com/thebluefiddles.

You can also listen to his music on Spotify here:

I like to encourage every entrepreneur to have an email list, whether I’m working with them or not, so they don’t build their audience on rented land.
